The Ballachulish ferry has long been replaced by a bridge, but in the days when car travel across Scotland involved sometimes several ferry trips travel WAS more of an adventure, although on this occasion no cars were harmed in the making of this Dufaycolor as all the travelers on the ferry are on foot.
Hawick is a trifle damp in the lower image in 1960 on a day when most photographers tended not to venture out. Hawick appears to be decked out for a celebration although not many people are about!
