Latest update 29/07/10
This latest update showcases two Liners that sailed the Atlantic that eventually shared the same unfortunate fate.
The first image is of the Queen Elizabeth as she is guided into Southampton in 1963 after a crossing from New York. Built in 1938 and not seeing passenger service for Cunard until after WW2 she had only a few more years of service to go before she was sold off and eventually scrapped after a fire in Hong Kong harbour.
The second image is of the Canadian Pacific Liner Empress of Scotland at Liverpool in 1948. She was also to succumb to fire and capsize at this very dock in 1953.
Two pages of New York in the 1940s and new London images have also been added
