Grand Central Terminal is seen here in 1948 with 42nd Street Bustling outside as it has done for the past 62 years. Cleaned now of its grimy exterior, the terminal survived the ignomy that befell Pennsylvania Station in the 1960's and is now once again the hub of the commuter services out of New York.
Below, in a scene that has barely changed in the past 60 odd years is Washington Square.
New York in the 1940's was in some ways a vastly different place to nowadays, but if you look closely enough the city hasn’t changed at all in some respects.
