Frequently Asked Questions

What sort of photos do you have available? We have around 20,000 original colour slides, dating back to 1909. We specialise in vintage scenes of Britain and the rest of the world during the 20th century. New inages are added regularly.

How do I receive the images? Once a request is received suitable watermarked low resolution images will be emailed so you can choose the ones that you require. Then the image(s) you choose will be scanned at the format and resolution that you require and then for editorial use I will email the images across to you or supply on a CD-Rom. For personal use only prints can be supplied and these will be supplied once payment is received.

Can you email images for personal use? High resolution images cannot be emailed out for personal use, only finished prints can be supplied for personal use.

What are your supply times? I would need the image by tomorrow at the latest I cannot supply images to a dead line as short as this unless they are already scanned in and with 20,000+ images in the collection it is unlikely that the images are already scanned. I envisage a turnaround of normally two to three days to locate suitable images and then another day or so to scan and send the images. I will endeavour to speed this up if images are needed in a particular hurry

Do you sell Royalty Free images? - No, all my images are licensed giving me control over the images I sell so I can protect my customers and provide a quality service

Can you give us some kind of idea of price for the use of any of your images? - Prices vary greatly depend on the images usage. I need to know at least the following:

My prices are competitive and I am always willing to discuss terms with customers

How do I pay for a print? - A PayPal invoice will be sent out to your email address. Cheques are also accepted. Other methods by mutual agreement.

What is the largest size of print available? - A 40 inches by 30 inches is the largest print we can supply (subject to the original image being of sufficient quality to enlarge to this size). We do not supply sizes smaller than A4.

How good is the image quality? Most images are of good to excellent quality. However as some of the images are nearly 100 years old they are not always of top quality compared with colour images of today. Also some film emulsions have not weathered the years well. That caveat notwithstanding however some images of over sixty years ago are so good they look as if they were taken yesterday! The best image possible will be obtained from the source material.
